Government undertakes Tk 85 billion development project for Teesta (Minister of Commerce)

Trade Minister Tipu Munshi said the government has undertaken a mega industrialization project on both sides of the Teesta River.

The executive committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has already approved the Tk 85 billion project, the minister said at a ceremony to distribute scholarships to deceased members of the Association of Journalists of the division. of Rangpur (RDJA).

Speaking as the main guest of the event, the Minister of Commerce also said that gas connection activities were underway in Rangpur.

Munshi said that the works to transform Saidpur Airport into an international standard airport are underway, adding that Rangpur’s economy is advancing with various economic activities.

An agricultural university was soon to be established in Kurigram, he said.

The Minister of Commerce added that the granting of scholarships to the children of deceased journalists was an exceptional initiative.

“I appreciate the initiative taken by the Rangpur Division Journalists Association, Dhaka (RDJA). I don’t know if other journalist organizations have such initiatives.

The Secretary General of the Export Readiness Fund, SM Rashidul Islam, echoed the sentiments of the minister.

RDJA President Moksedur Rahman Masud said: “We stand alongside the families of our late members with a small capacity. We want those who are able to support us in this great work ”.

After coming to receive a scholarship, the wife of the late Shafiul Alam Raza, former RDJA member Zakia Sultana, said journalists could not leave anything behind for their families.

“After the death of my husband, I lived, with my children, suffering. The RDJA stands by our side at such a moment. I offer my best wishes to such a humanitarian initiative of the RDJA”, he said. she declared.

Former Dhaka Reporters Unity Chairman Shafiqul Karim Sabu also spoke on the occasion.

The scholarship money was given to 10 children of late program members. As part of the scholarships, each child of deceased RDJA members will receive 3,000 Tk per month. The scholarship will continue until the end of their educational programs.
